ENTRY REGULATIONS AND VISA REQUIREMENTS

                           

If you wish to apply for Schengen visa at the Slovak Embassy, you need to book an appointment in advance. APPOINTMENTS CAN BE MADE on 0207 313 6470, Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 12 pm, 1 pm and 4:00 pm. Applicants without appointments will not be admitted to the Visa section.

 

VISAS INFORMATION

Foreign person can stay on the territory of the Slovak Republic for a short-term visit not exceeding 90 days during a six-month period permitted by Schengen visa. Citizens of certain countries do not need visas to enter Slovakia for a short-term visit for the purpose of tourism, transit, visit, business trip, or similar purposes. For entry into the Slovak Republic a visa must be obtained prior to entering Slovakia. Using an official printed form, the foreigner applies for a visa in person at the Embassy. Visa cannot be granted at the border crossings upon arrival.  In the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland an application for a Slovak visa should be submitted to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in London, 25 Kensington Palace Gardens, W8 4QY, London. The processing time is maximum 30 days, provided all requirements have been met. Visa cannot be extended. Slovak Republic is a member of the European Union and Schengen system. Foreigners, who intend to work, study, teach, or do business in Slovakia for a long-term period may apply for a temporary residency permit at the Slovak Embassy or Consulate General abroad.

 

Family members of EEA national

             Family members of EEA citizens, specifically holders Of blue coloured residence documentation in their passports with the document type „RESIDENCE DOCUMENTATION” with text: „Type of Document  Residence Card of a Family Member of an EEA National” (specimen – see link consular and visa information/fees) are not required to have a visa in order to travel to Slovak Republic, so they can travel to Slovak Republic without a visa. However, please note that in case you are travelling through other countries to the slovak republiC, other countires may require transit visa.

 

           family members of EEA citizens not holding the above mentioned type of residence documentation, need a visa to travel to the Slovak Republic.

 

            Family member of an EEA national or family member of Swiss national submits: 

  • valid passport and
  • document confirming family relationship with EEA or Swiss national.

         They need to prove their relationship credibly by presenting marriage certificate.  In case of spouses of Slovak nationals, marriage certificate issued by the Slovak Republic is required. If the applicant don’t submit above-mentioned document he/she will not be considered as an EEA family member.

 

Slovak Embassy may require additional verification (apostille or superlegalisation) and official translation of the documents to English or Slovak language.

 

Foreign national who is a family member of  the Slovak national submits application form along with the document confirming family relationship with Slovak national issued by Slovak Republic (for example: slovak marriage or birth certificate).

 

DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO SUBMIT

ALL DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE PRODUCED IN ORIGINAL AND IN COPY - OTHERWISE THE ORIGINAL WILL NOT BE RETURNED!!! 

Please note that only applications with all the documents as follows will be accepted.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in London requires submitting the following documents (except travel insurance) also by spouses of EEA citizens.

 

1.visa application form 

- completed legibly and signed by the applicant (or  a  legal guardian for children). 

 

2.Passport

- valid for at least 3 months beyond the validity of  the requested visa, (with a blank visa page to affix the visa sticker).

 

3. One recent bright and clear (not mat) photograph (3,5 x 4,5 cm) of the applicant.

 

4. Return ticket

- or your driving license plus technical license along with a confirmation of insurance (green card) and ferry ticket.

 

5. Proof of your current occupation/student status

- in the UK (either a recent original letter from your employer, solicitor, Company House or Chamber of Commerce or for students a recent original letter from your school, college or university).

  

6. Documents confirming the purpose of the travel

       a)   tourist visa - original voucher issued by travel agency verifying the 

              payment     of services in the Slovak Republic (length of stay, hotel

              accommodation, board and lodging, trips, etc.) with confirmation of  fully paid

              accommodation, please note that we do not accept bookings without full

              payment,

b)   visitors visa - an original  letter of invitation signed by your host in Slovakia, the signature must be verified by a Slovak notary or by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic.

        IF THE HOST person IS NOT YOUR CLOSE RELATIVE THE INVITATION SIGNED IN FRONT OF SLOVAK LOCAL FOREIGN POLICE IS REQUIRED.

c)   business visa - an original  letter of invitation signed by your Slovakian business partner, the signature must be verified by a Slovak notary or by the by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic,

d)      other purpose - document proving the purpose (e.g. invitation for conference,  cultural    

or sport event, etc.) signed by your host in Slovakia, the signature must be verified by a Slovak notary or by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic  

 

7. FUNDING - Evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay (choose one of the following options):

- recent bank statement confirming your income of last 6 months including month when your application is submitted and YOUR BANK CARD WITH mini printout confirming recent (max. 7 days) balance on the card

- traveler’s cheques

- cash.

The minimum sum required by Slovak authorities for one day of your stay is Eur 56 (the equivalent in British Pounds by actual exchange rate).

 

8. Travel insurance

- letter from the insurance company stating that you will be covered for any medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation for at least the equivalent to 30,000 Euro during your stay in Slovakia. In the letter must be stated your name, validity of insurance and amount which covers medical expenses. If your current insurance company does not provide such coverage, you have to find an international insurance.

 

A stamped, self-addressed envelope

If you wish to have the passport returned by mail you

have to provide stamped, self-addressed

envelope with postage stamps for "signature

required mail or special delivery envelope”.

ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE  PRODUCED IN ORIGINAL AND IN COPY - OTHERWISE THE ORIGINAL WILL NOT BE RETURNED!!
